The Enzed Sponsored Dewtec Motorsport team of Shane Dewar has been competing recently in the Oval Superstars Tour. First up was Palmerston North on the 17th of October, which ended up as a nonstarter due to Gale force winds and rain. The following Saturday went ahead without a hitch weather wise and saw a Race One result of sixth for Shane and a top four lap time. His luck ran out during the second lap in Race Two however, with the car being pushed into the wall resulting in a DNF.
The following day was the Wellington round. Shane and his crew worked frantically to repair the damage from the previous night. All their hard work payed off though, with a top five result in every race. And with every race came a new personal best time!
The following week was the OST Open at the Robertson Holden International Speedway in Palmerston North, which showcased a high calibre line-up with the top sixteen drivers in the country in attendance. Race One began with a 12th place start for Shane but by the first turn, he had stormed into seventh place, and then into sixth by the end of the first lap. Drama at the back of the pack however forced a full restart, resulting in a ninth place finish, but the fourth fastest lap time.
Race Two, and a start in third on the second row quickly saw Shane advance to second and battling for the lead. More drama at the rear of the field however meant another full restart. After some spectacular racing, Shane made an awesome finish to clinch third place.
The feature race saw a start from seventh with a more than respectable sixth place result, made even more impressive by the fact that the following car was half a lap behind.
This puts Shane in fifth for this year’s tour and an even more impressive fourth position in the national rankings, with third not too far away!
