The ENZED sponsored CMR (Cook Motor Racing) land speed team have made a triumphant return to the Bonneville Salt Flats for the iconic Speed Week. After a highly successful trip in 2016 that included record breaking runs from both their Nissan NX Coupe, “Cookie” and a Volkswagen Diesel powered Streamliner, “Wairua”.
For 2017, Cookie was fitted with aerodynamic enhancements while both vehicles were fitted with the same 2-litre naturally aspirated engines, with Wairua setting its sights on the Modified Unblown Fuel Streamliner record.
Cookie experienced a number of gremlins throughout the week, namely a blown transmission which threw a spanner in the works of any tilt at bettering its efforts from 2016. Wairua on the other hand, had a hugely successful run, managing to post a class record two-way speed of 260.36mph, comfortably beating the previous record of 252.67mph.
With improvements being made to both cars at a rapid rate, we can’t wait to see what the team has in store for next year!
