With a pleasing year behind him in 2011/2012, and an even more exciting season ahead of him NZ Drift legend and newly-focussed Gymkhana pacesetter Carl Ruiterman will re-sign with ENZED as a strong supporter in NZ and off-shore based competition during 2012/2013.
ENZED's Marketing Manager Shaun O'Dea says, "We were initially captured by Carl's long-standing and determined success in Drifting, and excited by the transformation he's creating in the evolution of extreme motorsport in New Zealand. Not only are Carl's skill's some of the best in the world, but he's a fantastic role model to younger drivers who have a passion for these forms of Motorsport which we think have a big future."
Carl's absence in the national Drifting championship last season was a hard pill to swallow for the 31 year old from Pukekohe, who had given up the year to dedicate the completion and launch of his infamous Subaru Impreza WRX in Gymkhana. "Drifting is the form of Motorsport which gives me the satisfaction of no other, and it's my goal to dominate in NZ again with the support of my sponsors. Gymkhana is an evolution of that - 4WD Drifting is just another level of the sport and now that it's proven, being able to compete in the two cars means I'm a happy man."
Carl's current Drift car, a purpose-built 95 Nissan S13 is currently awaiting the return trip to New Zealand after completion of the World Drift Series 2012 being held in China through to October. Carl is currently sitting in 6thplace of the title contention against some of the most famous names in Drifting globally including Vaughn Gittin Jr, Matt Powers and Fredrik Asbo. Carl returns again to China in September for the next round of Drift competition.
To the excitement of Ruiterman supporters, not only will ENZED be renewing their support of the currently sponsored Ruiterman WRX, the Hydraulic Hose giant will also support Carl in his goals of regaining NZ titles in the Drift Silvia also. Competition in the New Zealand based series commences in September, where Carl will compete in the Subaru WRX initially prior to the return of his Drift Silvia to NZ shores.
