ENZED, Supporting Our Communities
Thirty years on, ENZED still delivering the service promise it was founded on;
Over thirty years ago a small New Zealand manufacturer of hydraulic hose fittings completely overhauled the maintenance and replacement industry for hydraulic hose and fittings. ENZED’s founder recognised that when it came to hydraulic breakdowns the greatest cost businesses faced was machinery downtime. The solution was the worlds first mobile hose replacement service, the ENZED Hose Doctor.
Although the economic landscape has changed, ENZED’s principals and service culture remains the same. Whether it’s New Zealand’s traditional industry strongholds of agriculture, horticulture, forestry and fisheries or emerging markets like oil and gas or waste management a breakdown still has the same result; labour hours wasted and machinery sits idle.
By continuing to focus on minimising down time and offering quality product installed by skilled operators 24/7, ENZED has become a highly recognise brand in Australasia. ENZED is now backed by Parker Hannifin, the global leader in motion and control technologies. Parker strengthens the ENZED network by offering with its massive range of quality products as well as its global reach and support network.
Parker has also adopted the mobile service business model and now has nearly 1000 Hose Doctors globally, all of which could trace the origins of their vocation to Mt. Wellington, Auckland.
The success of each ENZED Hose Doctor largely depends on their ability to understand the specific needs of local industry and become an extension of the relevant equipment maintenance programs. With 95 Hose Doctors and over 200 service points in total, no other brand in New Zealand is better placed to align themselves more closely with local businesses.
Taking this concept a step further, ENZED is more engaged at a community level than ever. This includes supporting schools sports programmes through donations of rugby balls, organising fishing competitions, motorcycle rallies and charity golf tournaments locally. ENZED are involved with the 2011 ITM Cup Rugby and sponsor the Auckland Rugby Union assisting in the development of young talent. ENZED have enjoyed a successful partnership with the V8 Utes and a wide range of motorsports and welcomed many of its loyal customer-base’s families to events around the country.
The team at ENZED Christchurch has been especially busy over the last several months, doing their part to support the city. The workload has been extremely high with the amount of construction machinery participating in the cleanup but the staff and Hose Doctors have still found time to get out to support the community. One of the most gratifying projects was taking the ENZED Barbeque trailer into the worst affected suburbs during the days immediately after the quake to serve hot food to residents without power or water.
The relationships that ENZED has built amongst NZs industries and communities have been a major factor in the success of individual Hose Doctors and the brand. They are hoping to enhance some of those relationships by hosting the ENZED Smoko break at the upcoming Forestry Expo held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre from Monday 5th to Wednesday 7th September 2011. Hose Doctors have been inviting their customer base to come join ENZED for smoko while they are at the expo.
Local guys supporting local business is one key to success but ENZED is also very selective about the mechanical aptitude of the technicians joining the network. All prospective Hose Doctors must pass an intensive two week training course in Australia and attend ongoing training. They work closely with ENZED Service Centre personnel too to ensure that the customers issue is resolved right, first time.
Becoming a Hose Doctor has its fair share of rewards, being your own boss supported by a local and global team, working outdoors and problem solving using high quality products are some of the reasons that Hose Doctors list as being why they love the job.
