Dewtec Motorsport Sizzles Through Summer

Shane Dewar’s ENZED sponsored Dewtec Motorsport team was busy over the Christmas/New Year period, racing around both the tracks and the country. Representing ENZED, Shane has been having a blast in his beast, obtaining some strong results along the way.

First up was the New Zealand Minisprint Champs in Palmerston North on the 28th of December, with the unveiling of the new livery on the ENZED/DEWTEC team trailer.

After finishing second in the qualifying races, Shane was set for the finals and Starting from 19th in the first of three finals meant there was a lot of work to do for Shane and he came through with flying colours, passing eleven cars to finish in an amazing 8th place.

Race Two saw Shane start further up the grid in seventh. Being caught up in an incident on lap two saw a spin into the infield. Blameless for the drama Shane was eligible for a push start and a return to positon.  Drifting back to 13th saw Shane make some adjustments on the fly, only to see him caught up in more drama and an eventual finish in fifth position.

Starting the final race in 11th meant more work for Shane. Making a great start, he rounded up the field until going for fifth when due to avoiding action, saw him almost roll. After a restart in positon and some more passing, Shane was able to grab an amazing second place and fourth overall.

Next event of the ranks was at Stratford Speedway on the 9th of January with the ENZED/DEWTEC Minisprint team supporting the New Zealand Superstock Champs.

The event was a mixed bag result wise, from a Race One rear of the field start with an amazing podium place of third, to a DNF in Race Three but that’s what makes motorsport so exciting. No one knows what’s going to happen!

The fun continued a week later at Auckland’s Waikaraka Park on the 16th of January for the annual New Zealand Minisprint GP.

Shane started 12th for Race One from a field of 16 but managed to improve upon that by grabbing eighth place.

A reverse grid for Race Two and a start from seventh place quickly turned into another awesome drive from Shane who was able to take second place with an eye on first.

Starting in third place for Race Three was a battle royal for 25 laps. Finally after two restarts, Shane was on the attack for second when he went into the rough stuff, losing momentum in the process but still managing a fantastic fourth place.

With no rest for the wicked, the ENZED/DEWTEC team headed to McDonalds Kihikihi Speedway for the Oval Superstars Tour: Waikato War Part 1(Round 3) on the 23rd of January.

Shane pulled off another impressive drive in Race One, starting way back in 12th position but slicing his way through the field to grab fourth place.
The results kept coming with Shane starting from further up the grid in fifth for Race Two, to take an outstanding second place.

Starting from third in the Feature Race, a huge battle quickly developed and as Shane attempted an overtake for second, he himself was passed. Although quickly closing the gap back, there wasn’t time left to convert this into a pass and he had to settle for a hard fought for fifth.

The next exciting ENZED/DEWTEC Motorsport instalment will be back at Stratford for the Taranaki Minisprint Champs on the 13th of February.
