With Spring upon us it's that time of year again for Eggleton Motorsport running the Vernon & Vazey / ENZED Sprintcar as they gear up for the Speedway season. Ambitions are high coming off a successful 2011/2012 season and having placed 2nd at the Auckland Champs in the final meeting last season to professional driver Jonathan Allard in the #0 USA car.
Last weekend’s weather wasn’t favourable for the 1st practice of the 2012/2013 season at Western Springs. However after some torrential rain in the morning there was a little sun in the afternoon, enough to get a few runs although on a poor boggy track.
“We got the car checked over by the officials and weren’t expecting to get a run in with the weather, but typical Auckland with 4 seasons in a day the sun came out and we were able to get three runs in”, explains Daniel, “It was pretty wet so we weren’t able get in any good laps but the main idea was to check everything is running as it should. We really just played with a little tuning on the motor, we’re happy with the Tracksport Engine’s power plant running ELF Lubricants and will look to make a good go of the second practice all going well with the weather”.
The Vernon & Vazey / ENZED transporter trucks had some work over the off-season with lower side panels, compartments and extra lighting added and it’s looking good. As for the Sprintcar itself, not much has changed from last season and with the amount of compliments on how good the car looks the guys at Gibbs Signs are obviously doing a great job along with LG Panel & Paint and PPG. If you’re paying attention to detail, you will see a slight change with what looks like carbon fibre on the bonnet, it’s hard to tell it’s not actually real but an effect painted on by Owen at LG Panel & Paint.
Mid-November will see a container arrive from USA which the teams quite excited about but we’ll let you know more upon its arrival!
The next event for Eggleton Motorsport will be the second practice at Western Springs Speedway on the 27th of November. We hope to see you all at opening night the week later on the 3rd of November at Western Springs, with 22 registered cars it will be a great night and if Daniel follows suit from the past two seasons we should be expecting a podium finish.
