Hot on the heels of New Zealand’s newest and most exciting motorsport development, the E&H Motorsport Gymkhana Subaru STI and driver Carl Ruiterman have been announced as the latest combo selected to drive in Kiwi Motorsport legend Rod Millen’s Leadfoot Festival this coming March.
In no mean feat of selection, Ruiterman and the multi-disciplinary high-performance WRX will race against some of the world’s most iconic names in motorsport at the highly prestigious hill climb open only to a select group of two and four wheel drivers worth their weight in gold, and triple their weight in accolades.
The world renowned Leadfoot Festival takes place at Rod Millen’s family farm in Hahei on 140 acres of pristine coastal farmland. Nestled amongst the Millen Farm’s rolling hillsides and green pastures is a very special track; one that money can’t pay to drive and confirmed names such as Andrew Hawkeswood, Rhys and Rod Millen, Allan Woolf, Ivan Mauger and now Carl Ruiterman will race their way from bottom to top of over the three day weekend’s fun but competitive challenge.
“It was an absolute shock getting the invite from Rod and Shelly (Millen)” said Carl. “We couldn’t believe our eyes when the email came through - it’s an opportunity that many can only dream of and will rarely, ever get to do. Only those truly passionate about Motorsport will understand the prestige that’s involved in being part of an event like Leadfoot, and to drive the WRX amongst our idols is definitely a dream come true.”
Festival Director Shelly Campbell says “it was inspiring to see the passion and determination behind Carl’s enthusiasm to participate in this year’s event. Carl’s goals in motorsport mirror those of the greats who are invited to participate in Leadfoot and he’s well on his way to forging a new path for New Zealand Motorsport which many will follow. This is what each of our legends participating in Leadfoot has created in their time and we’re looking forward to seeing Carl on form with the Subaru in March.”
Tickets to the three day Leadfoot Festival which takes place on Rod Millen’s family farm in Hahei on March 23/24/25 can be purchased from Tickitek. For more information on the 2012 Leadfoot Festival visit www.leadfootfestival.com
