After a nightmare first round of the Suzuki SuperBoat Championship series, Canterbury superboat ace Peter Caughey is back on form – topping the podium for the second time this season, and this time at the most technical track of the year.
Shane Dewar’s ENZED sponsored Dewtec Motorsport team was busy over the Christmas/New Year period, racing around both the tracks and the country. Representing ENZED, Shane has been having a blast in his beast, obtaining some strong results along the way.
The Suzuki New Zealand SuperBoat series at Meremere got underway in spectacular fashion on the 12th of December for ENZED sponsored and World SuperBoat champion Peter Caughey and his navigator, Shama Putaranui. The event started brilliantly for Caughey and Putaranui after setting the fastest time of the day in qualifying with an unbeatable 44.28 second screamer of a lap.
The Enzed Sponsored Dewtec Motorsport team of Shane Dewar has been competing recently in the Oval Superstars Tour. First up was Palmerston North on the 17th of October, which ended up as a nonstarter due to Gale force winds and rain. The following Saturday went ahead without a hitch weather wise and saw a Race One result of sixth for Shane and a top four lap time. His luck ran out during the second lap in Race Two however, with the car being pushed into the wall resulting in a DNF.
Out With The Old…In With The New
After 20 years of fierce competition, the iconic Team ENZED 1964 Fiat Abarth 1000 (nicknamed Barty) of Rotorua’s Mike Lowe has been retired to the National Motorsport Museum in Cromwell for a well-deserved rest. For the 21st running of Targa New Zealand, Team ENZED Abarth are debuting its replacement: “Barty2- The Sequel,” a new works-built Fiat Abarth 500 Assetto Corse, painted of course in the distinctive ENZED colours as campaigned over the last two decades.
